For devotions this this week we’re going to look at the topic of vocation.
In other words….what we do for a living…our job.
Most of us are not called to go into a vocational ministry. There’s not too many pastors or evangelists that work at Pizza Ranch. But, according to Scripture, we are all called to be a light in a dark world no matter what job we have. God has placed us in our current role for a reason, and although we may not have the title of a minister or pastor, we do have every opportunity and expectation to spread the Word and grow God’s kingdom.
1 Cor. 7:21, 24 tells us that God wants us to “remain with God in that condition” in which we were called. Even through our roles at Pizza Ranch (or whatever job you have). We have more to offer than just volunteer time or financial giving…we’ve been commissioned to serve the Lord in our roles.
When we decide we work for the Lord, we invite the presence of God into every situation. By working for the Lord first we need to treat people differently, we need to act with integrity, and we need to care for others just as God cares for us.
When we choose to work for the Lord first, we awaken curiosity in all those we deal with.
May they see Jesus in us as we work.
